Introducing, our Nastia Liukin Collaboration!

Grace and beauty in the sport of gymnastics led Nastia Liukin to her crowning achievement at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing; however, winning five medals was only the beginning for this champion. After returning home, she graced the pages of countless magazines and appeared on various TV shows, and was also chosen as one of 2009s most influential people by MSN Lifestyle.

Liukin’s commitment to helping little girls with big dreams landed her a clothing line, SuperGirl by Nastia, along with her very own gymnastics competition, The Nastia Liukin Cup. She remains an ambassador for the sport by working with USA Gymnastics along with work as a television analyst for NBC. She will be a commentator at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016, so be sure to listen out. Liukin will graduate from New York University in May 2015.
Oh how we love seeing milestones reached and hard work paying off, and that is exactly the message Liukin embodies. “We are excited to partner with a strong woman who is all about inspiring other women to chase their dreams! If you look at all Nastia has accomplished in her life, it is very easy to see that hard work pays off and big dreams can be attained,” Megan Smalley, Scarlet & Gold CEO, said.
As it turns out, not only do we at Scarlet & Gold fangirl over Liukin and all of her accomplishments, but she also likes us too! “I was a huge fan of S&G before the collaboration, so when I got the opportunity to work together, I was thrilled! I love the designs, but more importantly the message,” Liukin said.
Not to mention, our design collaboration has a sweet meaning! “Pink has kind of always been my ‘signature’ color, ever since I won gold at the 2008 Olympic Games in a pink leotard. So the pink and gold kind of represents that, but also represents the color scheme of my upcoming wedding,” Liukin explained.
“When asked to design for our collaboration with Nastia Liukin, I was thrilled to expand on her vision of blush + gold! I decided to use watercolor as the medium because of it’s feminine quality” Chandler Mann, Director of Visuals and Styling, said.
“After researching inspiration I knew I wanted a to create a mix of elegance and whimsy. I painted peonies in variations of blush pink for one of the patterns. I wanted to design in a completely different direction for the second pattern but still fitting with the collection. I added accents of Gold to the watercolor design to provide dimension and depth. It was such an honor to have a hand in this collaboration!” Mann continued.
With that being said, meet our newest collaboration with the one and only Nastia Liukin! We hope you love it as much as we do!
