How did you get to S&G?
After graduating from Auburn University, I married my husband Max who had just recently started working in Auburn. I began looking for a job and was encouraged by a friend to reach out to Scarlet and Gold. Having an apparel merchandising degree, I wanted to work for a company that was in the industry but also carried a deeper meaning. Scarlet and Gold was the perfect fit!!
Tell us about your job. What are your roles & responsibilities?
I am the Project Manager here at Scarlet and Gold. My role has many different facets. I manage the Lifestyle Channel, as well as booking and managing photoshoots and videoshoots. I plan major out of store events like Market Noel and Spring at the Silos. I do the buying for the retail store. I also manage all private label products such as jewelry and prayer journals. Lastly, I manage the wholesale side of the business. Each week looks different and there is a lot of opportunity to use creativity in my role.
What fills you up most at work?
The core purpose of our business fills me up. The fact that in everything we are doing, we are trying to advance the Kingdom is so motivating. The people I work with genuinely love me and it makes sharing that love with the people I communicate with daily so much easier.
What are your must haves for a successful day?
Having a plan for my day is very important. When I come in and start crossing items off my list, I tend to be much more productive.
What's your proudest moment to date?
My proudest moment to date was working with one of our jewelry designers to come up with a couple of new pieces. I loved the pieces but was unsure how they would do. They both sold out within a week of the launch, so needless to say I was excited.
What do you love about working here?
My favorite thing about working at S&G is the environment. I think that working in a place with all women can be challenging, but we all have the same end goal and love each other well.
What's been your biggest learning lessons at S&G?
My biggest learning lesson was when Megan and I were in Dallas working an event. There was a whole list of things I forgot and we had to run around town trying to correct my mistakes. It was a big learning lesson to double and triple check that I have everything and to have a plan ahead of time for items we need to get on site!
What advice do you have for a graduating senior wanting to do what you do?
My advice would be to look for a company you love. Even if you don't start out with your dream job (and you probably won't), if you're working for a company that you are passionate about, you will see purpose in your job and that is very motivating. If you love to company you will want to stick around and work hard to move up!
